Norman Vincent Peale, considered father of positive thinking, was born on 31 May 1898 at Bowersville in Ohio. He was one of the most influential twentieth century clergymen of . He had his education from Ohio’s Wesleyan University. He was Pastor of New York City's (Manhattan) Marble Collegiate Church for 52 years from 1932 to 1984.
In 1945, Norman Vincent Peale with his wife, Ruth and a New York businessman-Raymond Thornburg founded magazine-Guideposts. This magazine is now a 48-page full color magazine under direction of Ruth Stafford Peale. It has a circulation of over four million and is the thirteenth largest paid-circulation magazine all over .
Norman Vincent Peale was a reputed author with many important books to his credit like Guide to Confident Living, The Power of Positive Thinking, Positive Thinking Every Day: An Inspiration for Each Day of the Year, Positive Imaging, Six Attitudes for Winners, Norman Vincent Peale's Treasury of Courage and Confidence, and My Favorite Hymns and the Stories Behind Them. Some more popular titles are Thought Conditioners, Foundation for Christian, The Power of Positive Thinking for Young People, In God We Trust: A Positive Faith for Troubled Times, Stay Alive All Your Life, The Amazing Results of Positive Thinking, and You Can If You Think You Can.
