If you want some “home buyer training”, never depend on the costly books or programs. There are several other options open for you, which can provide cheaper yet reliable information.

A guide like Success magazine, which ceased publication in 2001, had an expensive program on the buying home process. It charged US$4,995 for its six days of training (3 days of classroom instruction and 3 days of field training) as well as mentorship, and US$2,995 for its starter program, which does not include the 3 days of field training. Still you could never be sure if you would get all your queries satisfied.

The seminar of the Success magazine used to have a money-back deal which consisted of vague "45-day performance policy", where if you do not make profit even by following certain steps, they refund the money.

The questions asked at the seminar may remain unsatisfied and the money you put in may appear a waste, still the Success Magazine program never failed in making further promises. It had the facility of tapes too which could be seen sitting at home. It was better than the live programs - but yes, the cost remained high for that too. However, they never liked to hear anything negative about their working process.

It is better to note down the whereabouts of such programs and their owners to help others have the complete knowledge in case they want to question something after paying a good amount.

Today there are several other fields from where you can gain the needed information easily. It is better to take help and guidance from the Realtors, mortgage brokers, title insurers, etc. For a cheaper help, books like “How to Buy Real Estate for at Least 20% Below Market Value” must be read. It costs just US$39.95. There are similar other useful books which give information on foreclosures.
