David Ramsey is a businessperson, author, and radio personality. Today he is best known for his books and radio show through which he helps people clear debts and creates a sound financial health. David Ramsey was once a very successful real estate investor. By the age of twenty-six, he had a four-million-dollar real estate portfolio. Things went wrong and he lost it all. Since then he worked hard to rebuild his financial standing and now shares his learning with others.

David Ramsey has several popular titles to his name. Apart from writing motivational books, he also conducts workshops and hosts a radio show called Financial Peace. You can see him speak at his Total Money Makeover event also. The entry fee to this event is about $20. Davis Ramsey’s well known titles include The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness, The Total Money Makeover Workbook, Financial Peace: Revisited, How to Have More than Enough: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Abundance, and The Financial Peace Planner. His books are not about making quick money.

Unlike most financial gurus, David Ramsey does not sell a program that claims to make you a millionaire overnight. Rather, Ramsey tells us that there is nothing called easy money. He encourages people to clear their debt and invest as much as they can pay. David Ramsey’s beliefs are in opposition to the financial modes we grow up to believing but they assure financial health.

David Ramsey’s most popular principle is called the Snowball effect. By this, he encourages people to pay off their smallest debt first. The idea is to keep aside some emergency money and then begin paying off debts by paying off the smallest one first. Attack the smallest debt last is the strategy Ramsey recommends to his readers. His notion of baby steps, which help you with your finances by prioritizing paying off your debt, saving for a rainy day, and saving for your retirement.

Many people might say that David Ramsey’s ideas are old school as he encourages dealing in cash. However, no doubt, his teachings are common sense and put financial matters in a virtuous context.
