The red, white, and blue Hot-Air Balloon logo is today recognizable across 50 countries worldwide as one of the best real estate networks in the world. This logo belongs to RE/MAX International, a global network of more than 62,000 real estate agents. Founded in 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger, RE/MAX celebrated its 32nd anniversary in 2005. In a business where mergers and acquisitions are the norm, RE/MAX is the only major real estate network still owned and directed by its founders.
The two enterprising founders were dissatisfied with the way the real estate business was conducted way back in 1973. The Linigers devised a win-win strategy: they got the best agents in the business by offering them maximum compensation!
Dave Liniger, one of the co-founders, is credited with doing a great deal to improve the working environment and income potential of sales agents. For his outstanding work in this field, Liniger has been inducted into the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers Hall of Leaders, and the REBAC Hall of Fame. Liniger Dave Liniger is also the recipient of the Special Achievement Award from the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®.
In RE/MAX, the agents are in charge of their own business. They have to split the office expenses equally with other agents, and pay management fees. In return, they receive a wide variety of traditional real estate franchise services and high commissions.
RE/MAX sets itself apart by offering associates a variety of benefits and services, advanced educational opportunities and innovative technology. Some of their innovative services include relocation and asset management, an international referral network, advanced training courses, state-of-the-art technological tools, and national television advertising campaigns.
It is the only real estate network to invent and maintain a satellite television network (RE/MAX Satellite Network) dedicated to real estate professionals.
